Volcano tours are very exciting and educational and not really that unsafe if guided by an experience volcano tour guide.

They erupt with such violence obliterating anything in their path yet look so magnificent and beautiful while doing so and in the end results in life-giving rich soil and even creates islands.

Many people are fascinated with volcanoes, which is why volcano tours are so popular.

This means that active volcanoes can be found around the world. However, the place where volcanoes can be found with the greatest concentration is the Pacific Ring of Fire. The Pacific Ring of Fire includes the Aleutian Islands, the countries of Japan, Philippines, Bougainville, Tonga, New Zealand, Indonesia, New Guinea and parts of USA (California), Mexico, and the west coast of Canada. While there are other active volcanoes all over the world it is here that most of the volcanoes are located. When it comes to scenic volcanoes tourists seem to prefer the volcanoes found in Greece, Italy, Hawaii, Iceland, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Africa, Vanuatu, and the Kamchatka peninsula.

The two basic types of volcano tours:

Walking and study tours

These tours focus not on volcano watching (although this is also done) but focuses on the entire hiking experience and the knowledge about volcanic features, geology, nature, culture, history, minerals, etc. that are imparted throughout the trip.

Volcano watching

This type of tour obviously is done only on very active volcanoes and with experienced tour guides.

Volcano craters can be accessed either by foot or via helicopter.

Note that in some instances tours of this kind are suddenly cancelled to ensure safety while in some instances visitors are disappointed by volcanoes that do not erupt when expected.

There is nothing as magnificent as seeing an erupting volcano though and a volcano watching tour is definitely worth it.
